Eat healthy in the sun –the Lab SUNFOOD

      The SUNFOOD Laboratory aims to address an educational need for children and young people in local communities and to demonstrate to adults how they can have healthy food powered by the sun.

      Funded by "The background of the Carpathia”, a program of the Foundation Conservation Carpathia being implemented in the Țara Făgărașului by the Foundation of the Community, the Țara Făgărașului(FCTF) The first step has been taken – the acquisition of the expandable container intended for indoor activities (selection, processing, and packaging of products). 

     The next steps for the completion of the project are to :

                   – Ensuring the laboratory's energy independence through the acquisition of a high-performance photovoltaic system

                   – Equip the laboratory with the necessary equipment

Beneficiaries

       The project is primarily aimed at children and young people from Țara Făgărașului and Brașov County who wish to acquire knowledge about the environment, nature, and ecology through non-formal methods.

 

Goals

        The project  Eat healthy in the sun –the Lab SUNFOOD  is part of the CDTI project and primarily aims to leverage the results of a recent study conducted in collaboration with several local partners and USAMV Bucharest, titled **"Useful Flora from GAL Răsăritul Țării Făgărașului: Opportunities for Utilization through Traditional and Innovative Products."**

        The first step is to create a suitable educational space for workshops on the identification and utilization of wild flora from Țara Făgărașului, regardless of weather conditions, by acquiring a specialized container.

Expected results

     Creating and equipping an educational space dedicated to non-formal workshops on food and healthy habits, appropriately named Laboratorul SUNFOOD.

     Attracting into the STEAM Copăcel Club Attracting as many specialists as possible from these fields and involving them in the laboratory's activities. With their support, developing worksheets for as many workshops as possible on this topic.

     Attracting children and young people from the area to as many activities of this kind as possible through schools during Green Week or "Different School", as well as through weekend or holiday activities.

     Using the information about wild flora gathered in the study "Useful Flora from GAL Răsăritul Țării Făgărașului: Opportunities for Utilization through Traditional and Innovative Products."
